LEAGUE GRANTED PERMISSION TO INTERVENE AGAINST REVENTURE

NC UTILITIES COMMISSION ORDER ISSUED TODAY

Today the North Carolina Utilities Commission issued an order granting Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League’s petition to intervene in ReVenture Park Investment’s request for a declaratory ruling. The order is in response to the League’s petition to intervene filed on Monday.

Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League’s petition seeks to block ReVenture’s request to have yard waste and refuse-derived fuel inserted into North Carolina’s definition of renewable energy and to grant triple renewable energy certificates for these fuels. On March 15, 2011, ReVenture submitted their request for a declaratory ruling asking the Commission to have these municipal wastes considered renewable energy resources.
