Topic: Plutonium: The Last Five Years.

The Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League will commemorate the 5th Anniversary of former Secretary of Energy Hazel O’Leary’s last “openness” press conference at which DOE released its publication “Plutonium, The Last 50 Years.” Among the issues being presented are:

BREDL’s estimates changes in U.S. plutonium inventories since 1996;

Release of its report “Plutonium, The Past Five Years;”

The fate of 35-50 tons of plutonium headed to Savannah River Site this decade and the government’s lack of a long-term storage plan for this dangerous cargo;

Plans to manufacture plutonium pit weapon components at SRS.
